Sophie Chmiel is a German-Australian actor. She was born in Germany and grew up in Australia and Malaysia, and speaks both German and English as her mother tongues.
She has acted in a range of short films, including Longer Nights, which was selected for the San Francisco International Film Festival. In 2024, she appeared in a supporting role in the feature film Nothingman Berlin. Her commercial work includes campaigns for the NFL on RTL, WERO and Babbel.
Sophie also works in voice acting. She plays a lead role in the fiction podcast Cassette Diaries on Spotify and has recorded immersive audio stories for the Landesbühne Sachsen.
She received her BA in Acting with first-class honours from the Catalyst Institute for Creative Arts and Technology in 2022, and currently continues her training at the Tom Todoroff Studio.
She has additional bases in Munich, Sydney and Kuala Lumpur.
Outside of acting, Sophie is a big history enthusiast, her favourite sports are football/soccer and hiking, her favourite hobby is photography and she loves animals—especially chickens!
